And Off We Go…
After returning from the 2009 TBA/TCDA/TODA (Texas band, choir, and orchestra) Conventions, I am excited as ever about the immediate future. It is always so refreshing to visit with customers and colleagues face-to-face and this year was no exception!
As the 2009-2010 school year approaches, things are busy, busy, busy…
Over the next few weeks, we will resume contact with hundreds of music educators to ensure that their students enjoy the finest possible travel and performance experiences. In late August, I will be attending the SYTA (Student Youth Travel Association) conference in Norfolk. The final event for this year’s conference is a performance by the SYTA ALL-STAR BAND, which is comprised completely of people who work in the student travel industry – Always a hit!
In October, I will be escorting the Marcus High School Band to Indianapolis for the BOA Grand Nationals. Even though summer band has just begun, I am confident that this group will stage a fantastic performance in the new dome!!
Last (but not lease), I am thrilled that Director’s Choice Tour & Travel be working with five of the ensembles selected to perform at the 2009 Midwest Clinic in Chicago (Spring HS Band, Hebron HS Clarinet Ensemble, Tejeda MS Orchestra, Krimmel MS Band, Forbes MS Band). These teachers, students, and communities are sure to be fantastic ambassadors of Texas music. Additionally, we have commissioned a number of works to be performed by some of the outstanding ensembles at this year’s clinic – I can’t wait to hear them!
