Statement from Director’s Choice Tour & Travel regarding the Swine Flu Situation in Texas and the impact on student travel
As a concerned provider of student travel, we are closely monitoring and reacting to the ever-changing positions and policies of recognized health associations, academic institutions and government entities. Our primary concern continues to be the safety, health and well-being of students and parents involved in travel throughout Texas and the United States.
While some districts and schools have announced facility closures or travel cancellations, many are proceeding with travel plans as scheduled. In an effort to provide a safe and rewarding travel experience, we are focusing our resources on the groups who continue to travel.
Over the last 24-hours, we received an increasing number of inquiries regarding travel refunds and date modifications for groups who will not travel as planned. While the groups who have canceled in the last few days are beyond contracted cancelation deadlines, we intend to actively pursue the recovery of any available funds on the behalf of our customers.
Although the money collected from schools has long been committed or paid to end suppliers, we are working closely with every level of the industry to request financial leniency and consideration. Almost everyone involved has been happy to maintain an open line of communication and consider all possible courses of recovery.
At this point, it is not possible to forecast a timeline or estimated amount of refund for any groups. The involved parties do not yet know the overall impact of this situation, when it will end, or what their financial future will hold.
When the current state has subsided, we will begin to work diligently toward the goal of returning any available funds to the youth, families and communities who have worked so hard to provide educational travel opportunities for their students.
In the meantime, we will keep the lines of communication open and keep you informed as information develops.
