South Padre Island is HOT for 2010!
Thanks to a variety of factors, it look like South Padre Island is going to be a popular destination for Bands, Choirs, and Orchestras in 2010.
First and foremost, most of the island has recovered from hurricane Dolly. While there is plenty of repair activity in progress, most of the hotels are open for business. In fact, several of the properties utilized for student groups have been completely remodeled and updated far beyond their pre-hurricane conditions.
In addition, the University of Texas at Brownsville is scheduled to open a new performing arts center in the fall/winter of 2009. This 808-seat venue was designed by Studio Red Architects and should be the finest coastal performance venue in Texas.
Last, but not least, Director’s Choice Tour & Travel has secured Seth Horan to present private concerts on April 16, May 7, and May 14. Seth is a world class singer/songwriter/bass player with solid roots in music education. His concerts will be both entertaining and educational for all that attend.
When you combine all of these exciting enhancements with the fact that 2010 is looking like a huge in-state travel year, it becomes obvious that South Padre Island will likely be at (or near) capacity for several popular travel weekends next spring.
